The Striped Hyena is a scavenger species that consume carcasses and play an important role in keeping their ecosystem disease-free and healthy. Sadly, they are sometimes considered vermin by the general public. Their natural habitats are fast disappearing due to expansion of urban spaces and, large-scale infrastructural projects. The lack of recognition of their habitat for biodiversity, leaves the future of this scavenger species uncertain.
