Field Coordinator, Lakshadweep - Conservation Behavioural Science

Duration: 1 year, extendable based on performance.

Position Summary:

    The person should enjoy both desk-based work with data, as well as on-ground research with communities across project sites such as the North East, Lakshadweep islands, and the west coast and any other site assigned across India. S/he will be required to assist and work through the scientific research process. S/he must have a deep interest in social science research, and should be adaptable to working in a dynamic environment. S/he must be keen to learn, grasp, and apply learnt skills in economics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing on-field data collection across islands.
  • Ensuring that time-lines for deliverables are being met by on-field teams , which includes data collection and desk-work involving analysis.
  • Coordinating with the CBS and Marine team on the mainland .
  • Assist with qualitative psychological research as required (training will be provided).
  • RAssisting in on-boarding of inters as required.
  • Any other task assigned by the lead of the CBS team.

Required qualifications & skills:

  • Fluency in speaking, reading and writing Malayalam.
  • Fluency in speaking, reading and writing English.
  • Willingness to stay on and travel across islands on Lakshadweep.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills for on-ground management and coordination. Those with relevant experience with managing teams or on-field coordination will be preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Candidates with a social science Bachelor’s/ relevant background in social science will be preferred.
