Brief Job Description:

The Terrestrial and Freshwater Programme offers an opportunity to work on a range of projects aimed at securing ecosystems across India, promoting human well-being.
This role will enable you to develop, drive, manage, and monitor projects related to biodiversity, climate, and ecosystems, both in-house at THT and with a wide range of partner organisations.
Key Responsibilities :
- •Understand the contexts and purpose of existing as well as new projects and ensure they are carried out in an ecologically sound manner.
- •Assist in conceptualising, drafting and reviewing project proposals and developing strategies for their execution.
- •Build and maintain relationships with partner organisations, experts, and government bodies to ensure the smooth execution of projects.
- •Develop protocols and frameworks in collaboration with other team members to streamline processes within the T&F programme.
- •Develop strategies to overcome project execution and admin-related challenges.
- •Draft letters, articles, reports and manuscripts originating from various projects or from the overarching work of THT.
- •Review project progress and its direction towards the goal by compiling and vetting the information.
- •Assist the team lead in creating and tracking the current and subsequent years’ budgets versus expenditures.
- •Analyse datasets (primary and secondary) to provide information to assist senior management in making decisions and assessing the impacts of projects.
- •Generate maps and analyse required parameters from existing maps & datasets using QGIS/Arc GIS, Google Earth Engine, etc.
- •Review literature on required topics to inform decisions for any project.
- •Maintain seamless communication with various departments within the THT & Shiv Nadar Foundation ecosystem
- •Carry out project-related admin tasks, including tranche processing, MoU & addendum drafting
- •Visit various field sites to assess ground conditions and assist in collecting primary data for in-house projects.
- •Assist THT team members with ecological insights across programmes.
Requirements
- •7-10 years of experience in working on the research, development and implementation of projects in the biodiversity space, with at least three years of experience in managing such projects.
- •Deep ecological understanding of a taxon, such as flowering plants, birds, mammals, invertebrates, etc.
- •Understanding of ecological topics such as community/landscape/population/movement/behaviour ecology and conservation law and policy.
- •Experience in designing, planning and executing projects.
- •Understanding of research methods and their application in conservation planning & action
- •Quantitative skills to handle various kinds of data and interpret statistical results
- •GIS skills to map and analyse spatial data.
- •People management skills to maintain collaborative working relationships with teammates, partners, experts and government bodies.
- •Communication skills (oral &written) to understand & share information.
- •At least a Master’s degree in any relevant field for ecology, wildlife, environment or conservation.
