Position Summary:

    It’s an exciting time to be at The Habitats Trust. The organisation is launching programmes that build the intersection between human wellbeing and the ecological environment we live in. The team that comes in understands the necessity of building communication strategies that engage, inform and delight the people that live on this planet. Conversations about wildlife, stories about animal behaviour, the science of human psychology that makes us who we are and the understanding of how all living things work – these are not just for cliques that work in these fields. We are looking for people who will take these stories out into the world in a way that people like you and I understand, and appreciate.

    In terms of study or experience, a writer with an understanding on digital platforms is a must. An assured vision for social media platforms and the healthy functioning of the THT website is vital. The candidate must be equipped to handle communications for all online outreach, primarily social media and the website.

    S/he does not need to be from a wildlife background at all. In fact, fresh ideas are welcome from those outside these circles. This is an opportunity to present and build a conversation about our natural world in the way it matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all of THT’s social media platforms.
  • Working with partners and agencies to ensure regular outreach on all social media platforms.
  • Write stories for the website.
  • Ideate and create campaigns with external agencies to drive reach.
  • Must work with different artists, photographers, videographers to find new forms of storytelling.
  • Must understand analytics for social media and analyse numbers with the help of external agencies.
  • Travel to field sites to understand and document THT’s various programmes.
  • Find dynamic, relevant ways to keep THT’s communication interesting and fresh.
  • Must have a working knowledge of (or the ability to grasp) tools like Canva, mobile editing tools for short videos.
  • Work with the Assistant Manager, Communications to assist in all internal and external goals and activities.
  • Must have at least 2-3 years of experience as a writer.
